Quote: "Why can't we all be friends?"

Backstory: From the time he was old enough to recognize his own name he heard the forest call to him. When he was older, he would wander the forest endlessly, entranced by the magnificent canopy of the trees to the most delicate flower growing in their roots.

On his tenth birthday, as he wandered the forest, his wish to meet a sprite came true. But before he met a sprite he met a Fairy. She was everything he imagined a fae creature would be. She glowed so brilliantly and bright that it appeared as if the light around her sparkled. She flitted around him, alighting from shoulder to shoulder so quickly he could not register the movement. She whispered his name, Tae, Tae, Tae, tickling his ears with her sing song voice. He laughed delightedly completely mesmerized by the magical creature.

When he could no longer stand upright from laughing, he fell to the forest floor begging mercy from his newfound friend. When she relented, he sat up, clutching his stomach, and said “I knew it”. The fairy chuckled and the air reverberated with the sound of tiny little bells chiming, “Of course you did, you are a very good boy, Tae”. The pointy tips of his ears flushed a bright pink at the compliment. She continued “Now tell me what is it that you wish for?”

In his excitement the words rushed out all at once and without structure, “a friend…travel…share…adventure…sprite…and, and, and…” The fairy laughed and the bells chimed in a higher key. “A sprite you say, a friend to travel with you on great adventures?” Tae bobbed his head up and down quickly “Yes more than anything.” The fairy lowered the pitch of her voice, just a faint tinkling of the bells, to let the child know this was a crucial question “And if you were to meet a sprite what would you call them?”. Tae let go of his stomach and held up his hand making his fingers into the shape of the letter “V” and giggled “V for the shape of the wings” he continued explaining “No matter what way you look at them it looks like a V” he demonstrated by peering through is fingers, first with them pointed upright then with palm outward and at a right angle to his eye.

The fairy nodded in agreement that V was indeed a good name for a sprite. Then she spoke solemnly “Tae, if I grant you this wish do you promise to always be a good boy and to follow V’s lead in your travels?” Tae’s eyes widened and he whispered “Yes, ma’am.”

The fairy flew in an intricate pattern in front of his eyes and when she finished V appeared.
