The Games & The Group
7th Sea is a game of swashbuckling and intrigue, exploration and adventure, taking place on the continent of Théah, a land of magic and mystery...
Players take on the roles of heroes thrown into global conspiracies and sinister plots, exploring ancient ruins of races long vanished, and protecting Kings and Queens from murderous villains.
It is a world of sharp blades and sharp wits, where a cutting retort can be just as deadly as a sword’s point!

What is DORCS?DORCS is a tabletop roleplaying group comprised of a diverse array of individuals from various backgrounds, including several members of the LGBTQ+ community. While we are all adults, our group spans a wide age range and boasts varying levels of experience. Some of us are newcomers to the game, while others have been immersed in the world of tabletop roleplaying for years. We pride ourselves on our laid-back atmosphere and warmly welcome anyone to join in on the fun, regardless of their level of experience.

What Games Do We Play?We enjoy playing a variety of game systems and frequently switch between them. Currently, our primary system is Dungeons & Dragons 5e, with other systems mixed in. Feel free to browse through our list of past games to see what we have played, but we are always open to trying something new.

How Often Do We Meet?We meet regularly every other Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. EST via Zoom. Our group originated in Durham, NC as an in-person gathering, and the majority of our members are local. However, we have discovered that playing remotely suits us better, so we have decided to continue with this format. If you ever have any questions about the upcoming game schedule, you can find it posted on the front page of our website.

What Are the Basic Guidelines for DORCS?As the game master, it is imperative to clearly communicate any deviations or additions from the published rules in advance. These changes should be documented and posted on the site for all players to review. While playing, the game master has the authority to interpret established rules or create new ones for situations not covered. It is crucial to promptly inform players of any updates or new rules. Players should always remember that the game master establishes the rules of the game. It is their world, and players must respect their decisions. Regularly check the site for any changes to the established rules. Even if you are familiar with the game system, ensure that all character information and history are approved by the game master before starting. Keep in mind that the game master's decisions are final in this realm.

How Do I Join?If you are an adult (18+) interested in joining our group, please email gm@dorcs.us. In your email, introduce yourself and let us know what type of games you are interested in playing. We want to ensure that new members will be a good fit with our current group, so we will have a chat before adding you to the team. Our expectation is that members will attend scheduled games and be punctual. We have set the schedule for every other Saturday to help with planning, but we understand that life can sometimes get in the way. If you anticipate not being able to make a game, arriving late, or needing to leave early, please inform us as soon as possible. We may be able to accommodate these changes if we are given advance notice.
