Northlands

The Northlands saga follows a battle‑scarred band of adventurers drawn into a web of ancient magic, undead machinations, and fractured realities. Their pursuit of the renegade wizard Leptor leads them across blasted heaths, ruined cities, and shifting dream‑worlds where illusions blur with truth and a thin silver path is often the only guide through the chaos.


Their journey begins with brutal clashes against orc warbands and an ogre‑mage master, only to be thrust into stranger dangers: ghostly armies of dwarves and elves lining the roads, their souls stolen long ago in the legendary battle before Tarimthol‑El. The party’s own ranks are shaken as comrades fall, rise again in undeath, and are restored through desperate divine intervention.


As they press deeper into the Northlands, they confront the Bowels, a labyrinth of rooms filled with teleporting, shape‑shifting goblin‑creatures; the haunted gatehouse once used by Leptor’s minions; and the mysterious deserted city whose abandoned towers hide both danger and forgotten knowledge. A weretigress named Verna appears as a harbinger of Leptor’s presence, drawing the heroes toward a distant tower where their quarry works to complete a ritual tied to stolen souls and a ruby taken from Lord Baltron.


Battling exhaustion, betrayal, and the warping of their own memories, the adventurers push onward — through extradimensional sanctuaries, collapsing illusions, and the remnants of Leptor’s experiments — determined to confront the wizard and unravel the catastrophe he has set in motion. Every step brings them closer to the heart of the mystery, where the fate of the Northlands hangs on their ability to survive both the horrors of the waking world and the treacherous dream‑realm that shadows it.

Notes

Player Characters:

Atterwood — A spellcaster whose loyalty remains unbroken even after death; at one point restored from undeath through divine intervention.

Dukek — A hardened dwarven warrior, veteran of the ancient battle before Tarimthol‑El, deeply shaken by the ghostly armies lining the silver path.

Kanar — A companion who becomes incorporeal due to strange magic, serving as scout and forward observer.

Barille — A cleric whose divine power restores fallen undead allies to true life.

Rufo — A stealth‑expert whose scouting repeatedly saves the party from ambush or worse.

Novarg — A frontline fighter who helps cut through the teleporting horrors of the Bowels.


Other Notable Characters:

Lord Baltron — A critical figure whose body the group protects and whose ruby Leptor has stolen.

Verna — A weretigress whose appearance signals Leptor’s proximity.

Sirrith — A sinister force responsible for stealing the souls of dwarves and elves long dead.
